Since 30 September 2013, DIN EN ISO 20471 has governed all requirements for high-visibility clothing, thereby replacing the previous DIN EN 471. DIN EN ISO 20471 reflects the latest state of the art in high-visibility clothing. Unlike EN 471, the ISO 20471 standard no longer distinguishes between professional and non-professional use of high-visibility clothing. The standard applies to situations, both in professional and private life, where high visibility is required. The classification into classes within the standard includes, amongst other things, specifications regarding the area to be covered with the background material and the area to be covered with reflective material.
